I’m a 1st year missionary from College Station, TX.
What brought you to Christ in the City?
I first heard about Christ in the City through one of my best friends. Three years ago, he served in Denver for a summer and came home a totally different man. As I grew closer towards graduating college, I realized that I wanted to spend the next stage of my life serving others through the extension of the Lord’s mercy. My desire to serve was particularly focused toward those who were looked down upon by most of society. This all led me to serve with Christ in the City this past summer and to encounter the homeless in Philadelphia. Throughout the summer, whether through my fellow missionaries, the CIC staff, or through the friends that we served, the Lord constantly affirmed me and showed me that there was so much more that He had in store for me in Philadelphia. It is a constant trust in Him, the Giver of good gifts, that has brought me back to Christ in the City for this upcoming year.
What are you looking forward to?
Over the summer, I grew to love the way of life of a Christ in the City missionary. I loved the emphasis on prayer each day, the intentional time with our community of missionaries, and the service that we would do each week. There is no particular thing that I am looking forward to most. Rather, I am looking forward to living each and every day so intentionally rooted in Christ and in service of others. This mission is such a wonderful opportunity to spend each moment being a full gift of self to each person that we encounter, and I cannot wait to have the opportunity to live that out each day!
A little about me…
I am the youngest of four boys in my family, I was born and raised in College Station, Texas, and recently graduated from Texas A&M University (Gig ’em Ags!) with a BS in Ocean Engineering. I was raised Catholic, and over time have fallen so in love with the Church. I love to be outdoors, whether I am playing soccer, basketball, pickleball, or any sport really, whether I am going on a hike or rock climbing. I love nature, and I love how beautifully and intentionally it reflects the Lord’s heart and love for all of His creation. I love music, whether playing piano or guitar, singing, or just listening. I have also been known to play the occasional video game. All of these hobbies are even more precious when shared with good friends, and I am so thankful to say that the Lord has blessed me with many good friends throughout my life!
