Hi, I'm Olivia

My name’s Olivia and I’m a 2nd year Christ in the City missionary from North Carolina.

What brought you to Christ in the City?

My journey to Christ in the City began in Dublin, Ireland.  While studying in Dublin in the fall of 2019, I encountered people suffering from homelessness for the first time.  Seeing the suffering humanity in the homeless left a lingering weight on my heart.  After returning to the States, I felt God calling me to be with the homeless again, so I attended the Christ in the City Summer of Service 2021 in Michigan City, Indiana.  That summer, I met Jesus in a deeper and more profound way than ever before. The spiritual fruits of my summer with Christ in the City have been unfolding in my life ever since.  The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to love Him through the poor for a full year of service, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

How has Christ in the City helped you grow?

Christ in the City has helped me grow in my capacity to love. Street ministry and life in community has stretched me in so many ways; I’ve discovered how little I can do on my own.  After a year at CIC, I love with more of Christ’s love because I know my love is so insufficient.

A bit about me

Music is a huge part of my life.  My favorite music to sing to is Shaped Note hymns, my favorite music to dance to is swing, and my favorite music to listen to is the soundtrack to Star Wars (all of them, but especially not the Disney ones).  I’ve played the Irish fiddle since I was 16 (for better or worse).  I’m excited to bring my love of music to my new community in Denver!
