I’m a first year missionary from Virginia, MN.
What brought you to Christ in the City?
The short answer is that God has called me. He desires that I serve Him in this way, and that is enough for me.
I see Christ in the homeless. I came to Christ in the City my junior year of college on a mission trip and immediately felt called to loosen my grip of control on future plans and instead let Him lead me. Ever since then, the desire to be a missionary has not left my mind or my heart. I feel such a call to serve the homeless and Christ’s forgotten children, our brothers and sisters. In addition, the devotion to the Eucharist and prayer life that Christ in the City fosters is an essential part of my “yes” to this mission and is foundational for mission work.
What are you looking forward to?
I absolutely love that I am able to have the opportunity to encounter and experience Christ in the poor. I am so excited to bring the joy and friendship of Christ to the least of our brothers and sisters. The word hopeful underscores how I feel at the prospect of gaining a deeper sense of my identity as a daughter of God while living in a community that strives for sainthood. The adventure of serving Christ is unmatched.
A bit about me
I have an identical twin sister who is less than a minute younger than me!! Her name is Sophia and she is also planning on joining a service-based organization for the upcoming year. I love learning about health and exercise and particularly how to bring these to others in a meaningful and realistic way. A fun fact about me is that I am known for being very contemplative. I can, and do, sit in the same spot for hours at a time in pure contemplation. I like to understand the “why” and “how” behind all things. Currently, my favorite saint is Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein). Look her up, she is amazing!!
