Hi, I'm Clarissa

I’m a first year missionary from Weslaco, TX.

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I came out of a desire to love and serve the poor, specifically the homeless. They are a population forgotten by many – regarded as bad and less than. I knew this was not true, but I did not know how to love them. Learning about CIC brought great excitement to me because of its unique mission to build friendships with them. I did two months of Summer of Service 2024 in Denver. Within the first week of living out the mission, I knew it was something I could give up school for. The desire remained on my heart throughout the summer so I applied! It was an unexpected and quick calling, but the Lord has shown his generosity in abundance since giving him my yes.

What are you looking forward to?

I am hopeful to grow in a deeper trust and love of the Father. That has been my prayer for some time now and I have seen the Lord answer. In all the love he has showered me with, I know it is only the surface of the immense love he has for me. I hope to share this love with others – to let it penetrate all I do. I hope to be caught up so deeply in God’s love that it is no longer I who live, but Him!

A bit about me

God has given me a heart that loves to laugh and be filled with joy. I also enjoy quiet moments with the Lord in prayer, especially in Adoration!!! I am greatly encouraged by the Saints and their lives. I love Saints of simplicity, charity and littleness such as Saint Therese of Lisieux, San Martin de Porres, and Blessed Carlo Acutis. My family and friends are a great gift to me – I love them very much!
