Hi, I'm Chris

I’m a 1st year missionary from Stow, MA.

What brought you to Christ in the City?

Jesus is moving in the world and I want to move with him.

Midway through my senior year of college, I started to feel a strong pull towards service. I asked God to help me discern what that meant, and started to pray about it. I spent some time during my final semester speaking with different programs, but none of them felt quite right. One day, I encountered a homeless man on the steps of a church… one of the first times that I had been able to get out of my car, and speak with someone facing homelessness without a rush of cars behind me. He told me his story, and it moved me tremendously. A couple of weeks later, I met a homeless man named Steve who changed my life. Not just because of his laughter, his tears, and his unwavering faith, but because I realized that this was my answer. Very shortly after that, I saw a social media post about Christ in the City, and found out a friend of mine had done their summer program. God is so good, and I am so happy that he has brought this program into my life.

What are you looking forward to?

I am so excited to form such close bonds, both with my friends on the street and my new brothers and sisters in my community. After visiting Christ in the City this past June, I left with so much to be grateful for and to look forward to. The beauty in encountering those facing homelessness every day, and being able to be a vessel for, and bear witness to see, what the Lord does every day, is also very exciting to me. This in itself is wonderful, but the fact that I get to do it with so many amazing missionaries that will become my family is such a gift. The community nights, playing games and music and living in my new home with so many inspiring people is something I know I will be thankful for every day as well.

A little about me…

My name is Chris! I love Jesus and am working on becoming closer with him. I have always loved to run long distance, and was on my high school and college cross country and track teams for 8 years. I also am very competitive, and absolutely love playing basketball, football, lawn games, and board games! I am learning guitar and love to sing, which I did for a worship music group at Saint Anselm College, where I graduated from in May. I also love art, song-writing, and being out in nature, and my favorite place in the world is Green Harbor Beach in Marshfield, MA. My favorite thing to do is spend time with friends and family, which I could do all day (sometimes at the expense of sleep!). I am so excited to live in community at Christ in the City, where I can continue to pursue deep relationships.
