Missionary class of 2021
Emily St. Paul, now Emily Frederick (married since May 2023), is continuing her journey of service in the medical field! Emily brings her compassion and dedication to BellaHealthandWellness. Bella is an mission-based apostolate doing phenomenal work in women’s healthcare, a mission that resonates deeply with Emily’s desire to make people whole – body, mind, and soul.
Emily says her time at Christ in the City prepared her for both marriage and her calling as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), especially the importance of walking alongside those in need.
“As a CCLS, I’ll help pediatric patients with non pharmaceutical pain management during procedures, kid friendly explanations of diagnosis, emotional coping, and bereavement. The number one way Christ in the City has prepared me is walking and sitting with someone in their suffering without a timeframe in mind. Serving the poor and living in community taught me so much what it means to be there for someone through thick and thin.”
As Emily and Eric build their life together, they’re fostering a spirit of hospitality. “We are learning to have our hands and feet be of complete service to one another without reservation, says Emily. We can’t wait to have more of an outward expression of hospitality. We often talk of hosting guests and missionaries. We hope the home we are building can be a resting place for others.”
