Missionary, 2018-2020

Andre came to Christ in the City with a heart for communications and storytelling. As a missionary, he interned on the communications team, where he was influential in shaping the writing, social media, and communications for the program.
After his missionary service, Andre went on to work for the Archdiocese of Denver, quickly moving up to become the Managing Editor for the Denver Catholic and El Pueblo Católico. In this significant role, Andre truly gets to utilize his skills as a great writer, consistently delivering impactful articles for the Church that are widely read and deeply appreciated.
A Privilege to Tell Their Stories
Andre’s dedication to storytelling is deeply rooted in his missionary work and his experiences with us. He shares, “I firmly believe everyone has a story to tell: a story of beauty and goodness, of faith and healing, of glory and praise — even amid suffering, pain and heartache. God is doing incredible things in the lives of his people, whether on the streets, in the pews or in the world.”
He adds, “Christ in the City helped me realize and appreciate the value of those stories, the infinite dignity of every person I meet. After spending two years among the poor on Speer Blvd and 20th Street, receiving their stories of pain and heartache, joy and glory, I have the privilege of continuing that mission every day at Denver Catholic and El Pueblo Católico. I hear and am blessed to tell those stories day in and day out, all for the glory of God and the inspiration of his people. It’s a privilege to be entrusted with someone’s story!”
He emphasizes how Christ in the City has influenced his approach to receiving others: “Having learned from the radical hospitality of Christ in the City, I strive to make space in my home, in my schedule and in my heart to receive the stories, the experiences and the hearts of all those that Jesus sends my way — whether through my famous Tea Time gatherings or the interviews and articles I take on, whether on the volleyball court, in the narthex after Mass, or wherever it is that the Lord leads me. I’m definitely not perfect at it, but, like the beggar in Acts 3:1-10, Jesus invites me to ‘rise and walk’ and to seek out his people anew each day.”
Thank you, Andre!
Thank you for your commitment to drawing out beauty through the lens of story. Your dedication to seeing each person, receiving them with radical hospitality, and telling their stories with great reverence is a powerful gift to our Church. We are so proud of the way you are continuing to live out the mission of Christ in the City in the world, inspiring others to do the same.
