Missionary class of 2015

Remember Trey? Fondly referred to as “Grandpa Trey” by the 2015 Christ in the City crew for his legendary trousers-and-loafers combo, distinct southern charm, and old-soul wisdom.
We recently caught up with him and were thrilled to discover that his journey has blossomed into a beautiful family life in Mobile, Alabama!
Trey and his wife Danielle have welcomed two amazing daughters: Francesca (now 2.5 years old) and the newest arrival, Zelie Anne, who just entered the world this February!
Life keeps Trey on his toes. He manages the custom tooling team at the Airbus 320 Final Assembly Line in Lower Alabama, and when he’s not there, Trey somehow finds time to tackle renovations on their historic 100-year-old house. But even amidst the whirlwind, Christ in the City’s formation continues to shape his life and choices.
“The formation experience changed me completely,” Trey reflects. “On a regular basis, I clearly recognize its impact on my career and marriage. In my career, the development of a “culture of encounter” continues to be a priority. Although I am not perfect at this, I regularly coach new employees on how relationships are made (and sustained), which are key to success.
And at home, the impact is most easily observed when I make mistakes and need to make amends. I will never forget the advice the director of Christ in the City gave on this point: when needing to make an apology, make it a 2-way conversation by asking for forgiveness (and hoping it is accepted!)”
And how does Trey live out Christ in the City’s spirit of poverty, simplicity, and hospitality in his daily life?
While finding a homeless shelter to volunteer with has proven challenging, Trey regularly visits an elderly resident at a Little Sisters of the Poor nursing home. He also keeps a stash of drawstring bags filled with essentials like snacks, socks, and water, readily available to offer those in need.
“Now, I’m looking for ways to bring Christ in the City’s spirit of outreach to my parish,” Trey says.
“If you’re in the Lower Alabama area, let me know!”
Trey, thank you for the ways you continue to be a light and a witness of faith to all those around you!
