What Brought you to Christ in the City?
I was introduced to Christ in the City my freshman year of college by a group of upperclassmen. These men were hugely influential in my formation during college and I respected them immensely. They showed me the face of Christ in a powerful way. They told me about Christ in the City and I felt called to apply for a summer mission. I went to Boston the summer between freshman and sophomore year and it changed my life. I encountered Christ just about everywhere I went there. Afterwards I began thinking about a year of service. Since then I have done several mission trips with CITC and it has continued to be a powerful witness to the Gospel in my life, and I am always so happy to spend time with the missionaries and spend time with the poor. This has drawn me back and the Lord has offered me the opportunity to serve on a year of mission this year.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to everything about the daily life at Christ in the City: the daily prayer, especially the Liturgy of the Hours, the cooking together, the eating together, community life, small groups, talking to the formators and friends of the community. I am especially looking forward to making friends on the streets. Having friends is just the best.
A little bit more about me…
I was born and raised in Kansas City by my parents with my two younger brothers. I have attended Catholic school for the past 18 years. I just graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. I love to learn about and build things. In my free time I enjoy playing games, board games, sports games, card games, and yard games. Basketball is probably my favorite one of these. I also like to read. My go to book recommendation is Mr. Blue by Myles Connolly.
