Hi, I'm Samantha

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I was first introduced to Christ in the City by a former missionary. He shared simple, yet beautifully reflective prayers from the missionary’s daily life that immediately interested me in the program. I explored further and began listening to Homeless but Human. I was enthralled by the descriptions of friendship, community, and volunteerism; they filled me with a new appreciation and wonder for human dignity. The desire to see and participate in the fullness of these ideas, these glimmers of the heart of Christ, is what ultimately brought me to Christ in the City.

What are you looking forward to?

Foremost, I’m looking forward to experiencing deeper spiritual intimacy with Christ through His presence among our brothers and sisters on the streets. More concretely, I’m looking forward to the ability to have extended encounters with those experiencing homelessness. My current experience with this ministry has been confined to serving lunches, or brief encounters at stoplights, and so I’m eager to have the opportunity for deeper conversation and friendship.

A little bit about me…

I’m a cradle Catholic and spent my adolescence dutifully being the guinea pig for my four younger siblings as my parents navigated homeschooling. My personal affirmation of the faith came freshman year of college during an adoration experience. I enjoy singing, reading, and hiking, but especially pondering the gentleness and strength of God that each of these reveal. Recently, I’ve also developed a love of backpacking that’s been hindered only by my chronic car issues.

Where is your hometown?
