What brought you to Christ in the City?
One of the biggest things that brought me to Christ in the City was an opportunity from my older brother to come on one of the week-long missions. He was supposed to go and something came up. He told me that I was going to take his place and did not give me very much say in the matter. I went and really enjoyed my time there and could not wait for the next year so I could sign up again. Throughout that year I had been thinking about how much I enjoyed my time at Christ in the City and was really starting to think about how I could see myself serving there for more than a week. Then when I went back I fell even more in love with the mission that this organization had and knew that I wanted to continue discerning mission with them. To put it in short, what continues to bring me back to Christ in the City is the opportunity it gives to allow everybody to be showered with God’s love, whether that is from the missionaries to our friends on the streets or from our friends on the streets to the missionaries.
What are you looking forward to?
Some of the things that I am most looking forward to is being able to grow in community with our brothers and sisters in the streets and in the house. I also am looking forward to the strides I will make in my personal faith life through my encounters on the streets and through the formation opportunities given to us missionaries.
A little bit about me…
I am from Fenton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. I Grew up as a cradle Catholic with a big family including my mom, my dad, my 3 brothers and my sister. My family is one of the most important things to me because without them my faith would not be where it is today. Looking up to my older siblings gave me a real idea of what it meant to be a practicing Catholic. While growing up I was always told how social I am, some people even going as far as to say I could make friends with a wall if I wanted to. This is something about me that has not changed and definitely adds to my excitement about coming to Christ in the City, being able to share that with the other missionaries and the people I will encounter on the streets.
