What brought you to Christ in the City?
My desire to be with the poor started with the influence of my saintly friends St Francis of Assisi and Saint Augustine. Over the past year or so I have seen a desire for the poor and marginalized start to grow in my heart. For the past two summers I have spent time on mission serving those who are less fortunate and it planted in me a desire to live for the poor. Specifically, I was serving in a food pantry 2 years ago and encountered Jesus face to face with one of my less fortunate friends that I was blessed to meet there. After I experienced the reality that Jesus dwells in the poor, I saw my desire for time with the poor began to increase greatly. During these past two years I have been strongly influenced by the radical “yes” and spousal love that Saint Augustine has for God, as well as the intense and radical love of the poor that Saint Francis modeled. This encouraged me to seek after life with the poor and those in prison, and through these experiences I have seen the missionary heart that Jesus pursues us with and the beautiful faith that these people have lived with. After I visited CITC, I saw this as the best fit place for me to fall deeper in love with Jesus and his friends in the poor and marginalized.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward the most to the intimacy and encounters with God that will take place serving with Christ in the City. I also am looking forward to building relationships with the friends we meet and my teammates. Living a sacramental life in this beautiful community makes me stoked to go on mission next year!! It’s gonna be electric!!

My name is Mason, and I grew up in southern Mississippi. I have a family of 6 which was a total blast to grow up with! I am currently graduating from The University of Southern Mississippi. My first encounter with Jesus Christ in The Most Holy Eucharist was my freshman year of high school, since that encounter living with The Lord is the only thing that has satisfied me. I also love to have fun and just be in good community. I enjoy sports, nature, play, and good food!
