What brought me to Christ in the City?
Our friends on the street have always held a special place in my heart and from a young age I always wanted to help. When I first heard about Christ in the City in the fall of 2019, I knew I would love to be a part of their mission, but I wasn’t sure when I would be able to dedicate time to a mission year. At the time I was on the path to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. After my bachelor’s degree came graduate school and after my master’s degree came more years of practice until obtaining my independent license. Although I wasn’t sure how it fit into my plan, God had a plan; and His plan is always greater. In May of 2025, I graduated with my master’s degree ready to pursue my career, but God put my life on pause. Through several months of prayer, perseverance, and unsuccessful interviews, God placed Christ in the City on my heart again. Ultimately, through prayer, the desire just kept growing, so much so that I felt inclined to decline job offers that could possibly come my way. Through all the closed doors, God opened this one, and I could not be more grateful to be here.
What am I looking forward to?
Would it be too much to say all of it? I am excited for the friendships, encounters, formation, and growing in littleness. I am thrilled to walk alongside and share this experience with others. I am humbled to get to be the light of Christ in what may seem like a very dark and cold world. I am eager for the opportunity of continual growth that brings me closer to sainthood. Overall, I may be most pumped for the chance to live in a way of “littleness” that relies on God’s love and mercy to fill my cup rather than the material things of this world.
A little about me
I was born and raised in Texas but while in college I spent 6 years living in the Midwest. While in Texas over the past year, the one thing I have missed the most is the seasons!! I am excited to soak up the changing leaves of fall, the snowfall in the winter, and the new flowers of spring again. In my free time you are likely to find me on a walk or sitting in a new coffee shop! I love exploring new places and am always down for a road trip! You will rarely find me participating in sports BUT I will always be on the sidelines as your biggest cheerleader!
