Hi, I'm Gus

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I first learned about Christ in the City through my dad, who was researching meaningful gap year opportunities for me. When he suggested the program, I was immediately interested and decided to apply. What draws me most to Christ in the City is the structured lifestyle. I see this as a valuable opportunity to grow in discipline and bring greater order and purpose to my daily life.

What are you looking forward to?

I am especially looking forward to serving the poor, which is something I haven’t had many opportunities to do growing up, but have always felt called to explore more deeply. I believe this experience will challenge me, expand my perspective, and help me grow both personally and spiritually.

A bit about me…

I was born and raised in New Jersey, where I lived until I was fourteen. My family then moved to Virginia. I am a senior in high school, and I’ve decided to take a gap year to serve with Christ in the City in Philadelphia. I was also raised in a devout Catholic family, which has played a central role in shaping who I am. Growing up, I developed a strong interest in the Catholic faith, and I value the opportunity to continue deepening that relationship through both learning and lived experience. In my free time, I enjoy music and athletics. I sing in my school and church choir and play guitar. Throughout high school, I’ve also been involved in tennis, cross country, and wrestling, all of which have helped shape my work ethic and teamwork skills. I’m excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to grow through service, community, and a more structured way of life.
