Hi, I'm Evan

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I have experienced an abundance of blessings living a life with Christ. Knowing the
generosity and greatness of God has also deepened my understanding of poverty in man. This
goes for all kinds of poverty: physical, spiritual, social, physiological, etc. With the weight and
depth of poverty in mind it only seems natural for me to respond by giving a year of my life to a
mission like Christ in the City’s. Further, I am hopeful that participating in a ministry like this will
restore many hearts to be capable of giving and receiving love more fully.

What are you looking forward to?

The daily grind. By the nature of the mission the days at Christ in the City are pretty
structured which can be challenging… But, they are filled with awesome stuff like prayer, street
walks, community time, formation and classes. I want to be able to devote myself entirely to
something worthwhile and a program like this seems like a great way to live that out.

A little bit about me…

I am a senior at Indiana University studying mathematics. Over the past couple years I
have grown deeper in my appreciation for the beauty of math. However, I devote a lot of
my time to things outside of school, especially at St. Paul Catholic Center. Over the past
four years that church and the people there have played an incalculable role in forming
me and leading me to Christ. More recently, I have been on St. Paul’s cycling team,
Godspeed, where I have had a wonderful group of brothers to train with and grow in
fraternity. In my down time between activities I like to learn songs on the guitar and sing
mildly girly songs to myself.
