Hi, I'm David

What brought you to Christ in the City?

As I am in the process of discerning the diocesan priesthood, my vocation director recommended a year of mission after college seminary. This will allow me to grow in my spiritual and pastoral formation while also continuing to discern the priestly calling. I first heard of Christ in the City during my second year of seminary when a group of missionaries came to the Twin Cities, Minnesota where I was studying to do a week of service during the seminary’s winter break. I passed up the opportunity. The seminary I attended for the past four years started doing a week of service in the middle of sophomore year during spring break, however I was already a junior when this started. When determining the best place for me before going onto theology studies, Christ in the City felt like the perfect fit for what I needed.

What are you looking forward to?

I am looking forward to encountering Christ in the poor I serve while also growing in the spiritual and pastoral dimensions of my priestly formation.

A little bit about me…

I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I graduated from Saint John Vianney College Seminary and the University of Saint Thomas in May 2025 with a BA in Philosophy and Catholic Studies. This is my fifth year of seminary formation. My favorite saints are Saint John Vianney for his dedication to the Sacrament of Confession and Blessed Solanus Casey because he spent most of his ministry as a Capuchin Friar in Michigan and for his welcoming and attentive nature to those he served. In my free time you can find me at numerous sporting events, especially watching Detroit Tigers baseball, as I dreamed of being their play-by-play announcer before the call to the priesthood. I also love fishing, especially for walleye and smallmouth bass, and spend most of my summer days in my uncle’s boat on the Muskegon River in Michigan.
