What brought you to Christ in the City?
I went on a mission trip to Denver with my university’s Catholic center the summer after my freshman year of college. We were mostly volunteering with Catholic Charities, but one of the things we did was go to Lunch in the Park! I remember writing in my journal after Lunch in the Park, “this is definitely something I would be interested in for next summer”. At the time, a friend of mine from high school was serving as a Summer of Service missionary, so when we went back to school in the fall I asked him about his experience as I was looking into different options for the following summer. My discernment process was very simple: I was interested and honestly didn’t know much about it, but there was peace throughout the entire application process so I just went through with it. I served as a Summer of Service missionary the summer of 2023 and had the best summer of my life! I very quickly fell in love with Christ in the City and wanted to stay, and I have been waiting to come back as a year missionary ever since! My experiences with CIC have stirred up a desire in my heart to be free. Free to love the poor as Jesus does, free to welcome the stranger in love, and free to be poor myself.
What are you looking forward to?
Community and learning how to love!
The community at CIC transformed my life a few summers ago, and I know there is so much joy that awaits me there. I also deeply desire to learn how to accept my own poverty in order to let the Lord fill it, and CIC definitely has a way of facilitating this encounter with the Lord through everyday life.
A little bit about me…
I recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Psychology (Let’s hear it for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2025 WHOOP!) I have two very loving and supportive parents and two little brothers that live in Tallahassee, FL (go Noles). We moved around a few times growing up for my dad’s job, so Colorado will be the 5th state I have lived in! I am half Argentinian (excited to make empanadas), I love rock climbing, playing soccer, laughing, making coffee, and just being with people! My not-so-guilty pleasures are memes and music that were popular when I was in middle school (#2016vibes).
