I’m a 2nd year missionary from Oklahoma City.
What brought you to Christ in the City?
The Lord has given me a desire to imitate the Gospels through radical service to the poor. Due to my freedom and availability as a young adult, I thought there was no better time to make a gift of myself in this way. With the invitation to be a full-time missionary, I see Christ in the City as the start of a new chapter in my life.
How has Christ in the City helped you grow?
The past year at Christ in the City has taught me how to listen well, and without judgement or criticism. In addition, I’ve also grown to be more empathic and merciful. I experienced what it means to encounter someone, and to truly meet them where they are at. Through service to the poor and life in community, I have come to see and understand that my presence and attention are the greatest gifts I can offer, in spite of my own poverty. Christ in the City has also helped me to see the value of sacrifice and to grow in my capacity for it. I have increased my willingness, and ability, to do hard things for love.
A bit about me
I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2021, with degrees in philosophy, psychology, and Spanish. After college, I worked as a Health Teacher for a year. I left that job to become a Financial Paraplanner, a position I held for two years. My street route last year was the 16th Street Mall, and I plan to continue walking this route. My night ministry was at a nursing home. This year, I’ve been accepted to serve at the jail instead, which I’m looking forward to! I’m a man of many hobbies; a few favorites are playing guitar, learning kendama tricks, and fly fishing! My confirmation saint is Francis of Assisi, and I have a big sweet tooth!
