Hi, I'm Beth

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I have always loved the poor and dreamed of being a missionary. I have memories of looking out of the car window as a kid and feeling an intense, empathetic desire to love and help the homeless people I would see at intersections. During my sophomore year at Wyoming Catholic College (spring of 2023), I went with a group of fellow students on a mission trip with Christ in the City in Denver. I felt a great sense of fulfillment and peace as I joined the missionaries in conversation with their friends on the street. I was so moved by the tangible joy and charity present within the community of Christ in the City. During that mission trip, God placed a seed of a desire in my heart to be a CIC missionary.

How has Christ in the City helped me grow?

The formation I have received through Christ in the City (CITC) has transformed me. At CITC, I have learned more deeply that I am unconditionally loved. My value is not determined by what I produce or how I perform, but by the love of my Father. Through ministering daily to my homeless friends in their loneliness, I have learned that my presence, my very existence, is enough. I have been loved by my missionary community in my joys and in depths of my brokenness. My formators have helped me discover ways that I have not been living in accordance the truth, and they have affirmed my goodness. I am more free than I ever have been in my life. I am more free to sacrifice for others, to practice healthy boundaries in my relationships, and to follow God’s will, even when it feels ridiculous. When I first committed to a year at CITC, I couldn’t have anticipated the profundity of the growth that I now continually experience.

A little bit about me…

I grew up in rural Nebraska, where I was nurtured in a loving, devout, Catholic family. I loved being homeschooled through high school with my three younger siblings. I have always relished spending time outside, singing, playing the piano, and partaking in deep intellectual discussions. In May of 2025, I graduated from Wyoming Catholic College (WCC). My years at WCC were incredibly formative for all areas of my life. During my time there, I was steeped in the works of great authors, in the wonders of the Wyoming wilderness, and in an authentically Catholic community. My dream is to be a wife and mother. I feel most alive when I am around children, and I love to teach, so I hope to homeschool my children one day.
