Hi, I'm Adelaide

What brought you to Christ in the City?

I decided to apply for Christ in the City because I felt a deep desire and call to pause the trajectory of college and career in order to give a year to encountering the least among us – those who we often pass by in our daily lives. I was uncertain of my next steps in life, but the Lord answered my prayer through a conversation with a former CITC missionary. This was in the midst of my conversion to Catholicism, and as someone who has always had a pull to mission work and has had a beautiful mission experience in the past, I looked to my confirmation saint – St. Francis Xavier – for help in the process. I know that as a Catholic, my purpose in life is to live the call of Matthew 25: “whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.” I am so blessed to have the opportunity to live this out in a tangible way with Christ in the City.

What are you looking forward to?

I most look forward to growing in love during a year of laying worldly pursuits aside – to sit with people, hear their life stories and hopefully offer something valuable of my own (both on the streets and in community). I also look forward to growing in prayer and learning how to be fueled by a deep life of prayer and the sacraments.

A little bit about me…

I am a recent convert to Catholicism and very passionate about the faith and sharing it! My absolute favorite hobby is reading – give me a good book and I can sit for hours. I have completed two years of college in environmental sciences at Penn State and I love conservation and spending time in nature – hiking, kayaking, camping, skiing, etc. I also love spending time with family, writing short stories, and baking. I was also on my school’s cross country and tennis teams!
