What brought you to Christ in the City?
During my time at Georgia Tech (go yellow jackets!) I came to experience the personal relationship the Lord desires for all of us to have, particularly through the gift of the Eucharist. The deepening of my faith that followed led me to want to spread the love of Christ to those around me, but I was unsure how. One observation I continuously made, having gone to college in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, was the sizable homeless population– there was this continual tugging at my heart to do something for these people. Realizing a need for formation in loving the poor, I joined Christ in the City for a Summer of Service in Philadelphia. Between the formation I received and the authentic community life geared towards holiness, I was able to encounter those suffering on the streets, moving me to give more as a now year-long missionary!
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to building deep relationships with my brother and sister missionaries, so that we can pour into the friends we encounter on the streets. Having completed a Summer of Service, I am excited to continue nurturing the friendships I have formed already, alongside forming new friendships with God’s children on the streets. I am excited for more fun community nights, cooking with my brothers and sisters, hanging with our friends on the streets, and rides in the vans!
A little bit about me…
I grew up in a Catholic family down in central Florida. I always had an interest in the world around me, particularly related to the earth sciences (any type of severe weather). I enjoy reading, karate, volleyball, running, hiking, the beach, cooking with friends, cornbread, praying, and sunsets. If I could grab a coffee with a group of saints it would consist of St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Joseph, St. Augustine, St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John Paul II, and our Blessed Mother.
