What brought you to Christ in the City?
What brought me to Christ in the City can all be summed up in two words, trust and surrender. During a difficult season of my life while job seeking with no luck I asked God in prayer, “what am I supposed to be doing right now?” Immediately I heard the words, “Christ in the City.”
Before that moment I had only briefly heard of Christ in the City from a conversation with the Campus Minister at my Newman Center three years ago. I looked at the website, saw they were accepting applications and without a second thought applied.
I distinctly remember from the moment I boarded my plane in Seattle to the moment I landed in Denver for my experience visit I kept thinking to myself “What am I doing? How did I get here? Why?” Truthfully, I was terrified and didn’t want to even consider Christ in the City. Yet by the end of my first day I felt peace and confidence that I was right where God wanted me to be.
It was truly the Grace of God, trusting in His plan for my life, and surrendering my fears that brought me to Christ in the City. The Lord has done great things for me and now I have the opportunity to glorify Him through serving as a Christ in the City Missionary.
What are you looking forward to?
What I am most looking forward to as a Christ in the City Missionary is the opportunity to grow in my faith as well as the ability to learn about, refine and utilize the charisms that the Lord has given me to serve Him through serving others. I am also looking forward to having unconditional, genuine friendships of virtue with the homeless I will encounter and my fellow Missionaries.
A little bit about me…
I was blessed to be part of a family with two younger siblings and two older siblings! Naturally, being the middle child meant I got into all kinds of mischief and drove my siblings crazy often and that hasn’t stopped as I’ve grown up! I love getting outside, trying new things and finding new hobbies. Where spontaneous chaos can be found I am usually there too.
However, greater than my love for trying new things is my love for the Lord. He revealed Himself to me during a very rough time in my life where I was trying to find my identity in the world. He showed me that my true identity is in Him as His beloved Son and since then my life has been nothing like I would’ve ever expected, but more than I could’ve ever dreamed.
