What brought you to Christ in the City?
Six months ago, I expected to continue building my career as an engineer in Boston, where life was largely going according to plan. Then a priest friend invited me on a spring break mission trip with Christ in the City to serve people experiencing homelessness in Denver. I went expecting to give, but instead received an incredible gift. Through encounters with the poor and the missionaries, I discovered a depth of joy, freedom, and purpose that I had never experienced before, and for the first time I began to understand what it meant to love the poor as friends. When I returned home, my perspective had changed. Although I still enjoyed engineering, I felt drawn to something deeper, and I applied to Christ in the City that same night. As I continued discerning, Holy Thursday brought the clarity I needed. Reflecting on Christ’s humble service in the Gospel and during the Washing of the Feet at Mass, I realized that I had often sought meaning through achievement rather than self-gift. In that moment, I sensed the Lord inviting me to follow His example, and my response became simple: “Yes, Lord.”
What are you looking forward to?
Gratefully, there is much that I am looking forward to this year. Above all, I am excited for the opportunity to continue growing in love for the poor and to learn what it means to serve them more wholeheartedly. I look forward to sharing life in community, building deep friendships, and being challenged in ways I have never been challenged before. I know this year will stretch me, teach me, and invite me to grow in virtue, humility, and trust as I continue becoming the man God created me to be. I am also eager to deepen my faith and take it to new heights—both spiritually and physically. And, of course, I hope to take advantage of Colorado’s sunshine and unpredictable weather, exploring a few 14ers along the way and perhaps striking a Frassati pose or two at the summit.
A little bit about me…
I was born in San Diego, raised in Mexico, and attended school in California before moving across the country to study at Northeastern University in Boston. It was there that my faith became a central part of my life through Saint Paul’s Outreach (SPO), where I was blessed by a strong Catholic community and served in a variety of leadership roles, including leading small groups, men’s discipleship groups, retreats, and larger student gatherings. One of the most formative experiences of my college years was participating in SPO’s household program, where I lived an intentional Catholic way of life alongside some of my closest friends, whom I now consider brothers. I graduated in Spring 2025 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Design, and since then have been pursuing an MBA at Northeastern while working full-time at a consumer products company. I’m the youngest of two siblings and enjoy staying active and spending time with friends through activities like running, hiking, exploring new places, reading, watching movies, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.
