What brought you to Christ in the City?
For years I knew that I desired to serve the poor. I knew there was something about them that was just so Christ-like. In 2024, I met some Christ in the City missionaries at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. I signed up to do a street walk with them, and found that there was nothing as human as sitting on the sidewalk talking to another human. It was so simple, yet a moment so filled with the Holy Spirit. It felt very ordinary. I asked myself, “Why isn’t this just a normal thing to do? Why shouldn’t it be normal to take the time out of one’s day to sit with someone in need?” I realized that what seems extraordinary in today’s eyes is one of the most ordinary human interactions that we can have. After this experience, I did a Summer of Service with Christ in the City in 2025. My desire to serve and to love Jesus in the poor was further deepened as I encountered Jesus’ Sacred Heart in the hearts of others. Over this past year, Jesus kept calling me back to Christ in the City and I am excited to continue this ministry of love!
What are you looking forward to?
Christ in the City is a ministry that invites their community to love with abandon – whether that be Jesus, the poor, or one another. I’m looking forward to living this love in community life! I’m excited to get to know the other young people called to serve in this way and to form friendships with them. I am also looking forward to living a simple life with others, where the most valuable thing in each moment is the person in front of us.
A little bit about me…
I love peaceful mornings, time spent in nature, hiking, meeting new friends, and cherished time with old friends! One of the things I love most is being around people! I grew up in Mountainside, New Jersey, in a lovely and loud family of 6. I recently graduated from Franciscan University with my nursing degree! I strive to live my life reflecting these words of Saint John Paul II: “It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.”
