What brought you to Christ in the City?
I found myself desiring to respond to the epidemic of isolation after hearing about the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2023 report on it. While we find isolation in every corner of our world, and even in our own hearts, I was especially moved by hearing a Christ in the City missionary speak about how they get to love, without seeking or receiving anything in return, those who experience a deep lack of love in their lives. While serving the poor and abandoned, I experience a deep love and zeal in my heart, but I also feel closest to the Lord. I have experienced an abundant outpouring of love and mercy from our bountiful Father, and I desire to share that so that all may come to know the love and goodness for which they were created.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to growing in deeper intimacy with God through serving His children, learning how to love through being a gift of self in a radical and abundant way, and growing in community and friendship with those I am serving alongside. Finally, I look forward to listening to those I encounter in Denver, whether on the streets or in the community, and getting to know their stories.
A little bit about me…
I hail from the great state of Nebraska, where I have had the pleasure of calling home for the past 22 years! “What does one even do in Nebraska?” you may be thinking. Well, I often find myself spending time at the lake, husking corn, experimenting in the kitchen, cheering on the Huskers, and hanging out with my nine roommates on the front porch watching storms roll in. This past May, I graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in Supply Chain Management (in short, I spent four years learning how to buy things. How exciting!). I spent two summers in Colorado serving with Camp Wojtyla, where I was converted to barefoot shoes and kombucha, gained a great love for the mountains, and, most importantly, met Jesus in the Eucharist. What am I known for? Beyond a good burp here and there (sorry, Mom), I love hosting, going on random adventures, and riding my bike around town to avoid getting parking tickets.
