Hi, I'm Jeanna

What brought you to Christ in the City?

While I have always been convicted of our responsibility as Christians to help those in need, it wasn’t until I began to really know God and put him at the center of my life that I even entertained the thought of doing something like Christ in the City. I have been increasingly compelled by Jesus’ example of being a friend to the suffering as well as the many saints who lived their lives pursuing holiness and loving the poor.  At the beginning of my senior year of college I felt a pull to do something radical with my faith post grad, something that reflects the radical nature of the Gospel and would challenge me in a new way. I was encouraged to apply to Christ in the City by a friend, but I expressed that I believed the door on mission work was closed for me as I had initially pursued serving the poor with another organization and it did not work out. However, this conversation kept coming up in my mind during prayer and I felt God was inviting me to discern if maybe the door wasn’t closed after all. During my visit I experienced so much grace and beauty in both the apostolic work as well as community life. I am really excited to be immersed in that full-time and see the face of Christ in those around me!

What are you looking forward to?

I am looking forward to growing in love for my neighbor, especially when it is difficult and living a life less attached to material comforts.

A little bit about me…

I grew up in western Pennsylvania, but I spent the last 4 years in almost heaven, West Virginia studying marketing at WVU, which is where I really embraced my Catholic faith. I enjoy listening to and talking about music, reading, being outdoors, and am always trying to pick up new hobbies from other people! My confirmation saint is St. Thérèse and her intercession throughout my time applying, visiting, and now becoming a missionary has been wildly impactful.

Where is your hometown?
