What brought me to Christ in the city:
Throughout college, the Lord uncovered a deep heart for mission that He had placed in me while on staff for both Catholic Youth Expeditions and Totus Tuus. Going into my senior year, I felt the Lord calling me to give the beginning of my post-graduate life to Him on mission as well. Before applying for a year of service, I had only ever heard of Christ in the City from friends who had served with them in the past, and I didn’t know much about the mission itself. While praying and considering where the Lord might be calling me to follow Him, Christ in the City immediately came to mind, though somewhat unexpectedly! I found myself telling Jesus, “I don’t care what it takes, I just want to love.” I quickly fell in love with the mission and community on my experience visit and felt deep peace saying yes to following Jesus to Christ in the City!
What are you looking forward to:
I am most looking forward to seeing the ways Jesus challenges me to love more fully and to make a more complete gift of myself to Him and to those He places in front of me, whether in community life or in His poor. I am excited to have the gift of meeting Jesus in the poor each day. And I also can’t wait for life in the beautiful state of Colorado!
A little about me:
I was born and raised by my wonderful parents in a small suburb of Chicago alongside my younger brother Peter. We were blessed with a big, amazing extended family and lots of cousins to grow up alongside! I grew up Catholic but experienced a reversion to the faith in high school following a week-long walking pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion; Our Lady has been watching over me from the beginning! This faith journey continued into college where my relationship with the Lord only grew. Always with a paintbrush or pencil in hand as a kid, I naturally studied studio art at Hillsdale College. I love all sorts of artistic mediums, but my current favorites are watercolor and photography! In addition to painting and taking lots of photos, I love spending time with my many cousins, playing tennis (though I’m quite rusty), hiking and camping, playing guitar, crocheting, and traveling!
