Hi, I'm Mac

What brought me to Christ in the city:

What brought me to Christ in the City started with a simple “Yes” to the Lord. It started with Collin Likover’s yes to be a focus missionary on my college campus. Then by the grace of God I ended up in his bible study at a time in my life where I didn’t feel the Holy Spirit’s presence in me. He invited me to a catholic college student conference called “SEEK”. At this conference I encountered Christ and the catholic faith was presented to me as something to be lived out. My whole life I had known about Jesus but for the first time I knew Jesus. At this conference I went to every missionary group tabling and took a flyer from every single one. When I got to the last booth it was covered in cardboard and I asked the missionary Olivia, “What do yall do?”. She said “We bring the love of Christ to those who have given up on the idea of loving themselves”. I said “where do I signup?”, and ended up doing a summer of service with them in Denver. By the second week I knew I wanted to receive the full two years of formation Christ in the City had to offer through loving Christ’s poor, formation classes, retreats, community life, and receiving the sacraments.

What are you looking forward to:

I’m insanely excited to grow in my ability to encounter others on a deeper level. I’ve always been a somewhat extroverted person, but the months I spent as a Missionary doing Summer of Service in Denver was the most I’ve ever grown as a person. I’m most excited to grow through learning how to live in community, be silent(on a silent retreat), see Christ in his poor, and run back to Christ to be filled with his grace. Being able to receive Christ’s grace through daily mass/adoration and distribute it on the streets is going to be such an incredible opportunity.

A little about me:

My real name is Jackson but I go by Mac cause my mom thought it was more unique than Jack. I feel closest to God when I’m around the ocean because it’s my favorite part of his creation. I also love encountering the poor(obviously) and feel connected to the Lord when I’m able to show others the gift of real human connection.
