It can be as simple as providing wifi and a place to gather!
Have you ever been to a Super Bowl watch party? Well, it’s kind of like that. A Christ in the City watch party is a great way to gather family and friends together to learn about our mission of serving the poor.
-The original inspiration for Christ in the City-Hear from our friends on the street-A unique look inside Christ in the City and missionary life-How you can encounter the poor in your community-Live Missionary Q&A
Both the virtual event and hosting a watch party are free!
The live event will be through Zoom. You will need a computer to quickly sign up and download the Zoom app. You can connect your laptop to a TV with an HDMI cable or Smart TV. We recommend checking your connection a few days ahead of time and connecting a half an hour before the live event.
How long will it last?
The live show (7-8pm MST) will be just under one hour! The cocktail hour before (6-7pm MST) is a great time to socialize with your guests and bid on auction items before the show begins.
Each state and city has different group size regulations for gatherings. Please keep your local COVID health and safety regulations in mind as you make the best decision for you and your family.
Family, friends, fellow parishioners, classmates, your small group, or coworkers… the list is endless!
Do I need to provide dinner?
One of the best parts about a watch party is that you can make it whatever you want. Provide a full dinner, appetizers, make it a potluck, or stick to just dessert and drinks (we know it’s a bit late for you East Coasters!) Sponsors get a catered meal! Find out more here.
-CIC Annual Review magazines-Tip Sheets for encountering the poor-Donation envelopes if people wish to give via check-A gift for you!-A few flyers you can set out to help with bidding instructions and special opportunities for the night
Donations are greatly appreciated and help make this ministry possible, yet we understand everyone has a different capacity to give. There will be opportunities to support the mission during the event and we are grateful for whatever generosity we receive.
Here are some creative ideas to engage your guests with the mission:
-Give your guests an item like wool socks or hand warmers with the challenge to give them to someone who is homeless. Or, even create a whole care kit station. More details here!-Sponsors have the opportunity for a missionary to join their watch party. Details here! -Create a short list of the local resources for the poor and homeless. Talk among your group about how to engage in your community.
A few days before the auction opens, we will email you a silent auction link to forward to your guests. The silent auction will open three days before the event on Wednesday, September 30 at 9 am MST and will close on Saturday, October 3 at 7 pm MST. Bid the last last hour of the silent auction during cocktail hour!
Absolutely! Reserve a classroom on campus, make some popcorn, and you’re ready! If CIC has touched your heart, it’s the perfect opportunity to share this mission with your classmates, friends, Greek community, or campus ministry.
CIC’s mission is a great way for the whole family to better see Christ in the poor. While some of the content may be difficult for children to understand, they will see and meet young men and women who are dedicating themselves to prayer and serving the poor. It’s a great avenue to begin a conversation with your children about caring for the “least of these brothers and sisters.”
To ensure you get your watch party kit in time, please RSVP by Thursday, September 24 with your estimated number of guests. You are welcome to RSVP after then, but we cannot guarantee your kit will arrive on time.
