My name’s Valya and I’m a 1st-year Christ in the City missionary, returning for a 2nd year, from Dublin, Ireland.

My favorite memory from this past year

My favorite memories from this past year have been women’s excursion, the talent show and the winter silent retreat.

A lesson I learned this past year

A lesson I have learnt this past year has been to be patient with myself and the work that the Lord is doing in my heart.

How Christ in the City has helped me grow

During my time at Christ in the City I have definitely seen the most growth in allowing myself to be vulnerable with my community members, in particular with my Marian group. This has manifested in inviting my sisters in Christ into my brokenness and allowing them to love me in it, which has allowed me to feel a greater sense freedom overall.

During our time on silent retreat in January, the Lord allowed me to see that He has a lot of healing that He wants to do in my heart. I should not be scared in allowing others, including Himself, into it, and allow myself to take the bold steps needed in order to heal my heart.

A bit about me

I’m an upcoming 2nd year missionary from Dublin, Ireland, but was adopted from Russia. I graduated college in 2019 with a degree in Pharmaceutical Healthcare. For fun, I love to go on walks, paint, cross stitch, go to the beach, and sit in the sun.
