My name’s Sarah and I’m a 1st-year Christ in the City missionary, returning for a 2nd year, from Alexandria, VA.

A lesson I learned this past year

It’s good to feel your emotions (even if that means you cry more).

My favorite memory from this past year

My Marian group that lasted 12 hours! Our normal 2 hour Marian group turned into a sleepover, then we got Dunkin in the morning, and painted affirmations on rocks with each other.

How has Christ in the City helped me grow

Throughout this year I’ve grown the most in self-knowledge especially in terms of my emotions. I remember at the beginning of the year being confused when people told me to be gentle toward myself and my emotions. Slowly I have realized how I need to be as merciful to myself as I am to my friends on the street. The more I have allowed myself to feel my emotions, the more I have grown in freedom, humility, and self-knowledge.

A bit about me

I’m a first year missionary returning for a second year, originally from Alexandria, VA. I lived in Philadelphia the past 5 years while I went to Drexel University and got my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Biomedical Engineering. For fun, I like to learn new crafts, swim, play sports, and go to the beach.
