Hi, I'm Sarah

My name’s Sarah and I’m a 2nd year Christ in the City missionary from Armagh, Ireland.

What brought you to Christ in the City?

My friend recently shared this quote from Saint Augustine with me, “I was not yet in love, yet I loved to love… I sought what I might love, in love with loving.” I think this pretty much sums up what brought me to Christ in the City. I knew I loved to love and knew that people had told me that God IS Love. So I came to CIC last year with the desire to love. The call to love the poor on the streets was God’s way of drawing me here to learn to love Him. I have seen that it was truly Gods grace that brought me here to allow myself to be loved. To learn what true, radical, free love is, and to grow in my ability to receive it. God brought me here to learn how  to love even in the depths of our poverty, in my own poverty, my community’s poverty and the poverty on the streets!

How has Christ in the City helped you grow?

Christ in the City has been a home to help me grow in SO many ways this past year! Primarily I have grown in my identity as a daughter of God. The formation at CIC has allowed me to enter into what it truly means to know, love and serve God. I have learnt this is not about my ability to earn His love and it is more about receiving His love, which is given freely, and then by His grace, sharing this love with others by simply living in freedom. Coming face to face with my own poverty and littleness has allowed me to journey in trust and surrender to God. I have a totally new understanding of what it means to rest in the peace knowing I am His beloved child. A bit about me

A bit about me

I am from County Armagh in Ireland. I enjoy putting a bit of an Irish spin to things at Christ in the City. I love relaxing in nature and spending time outside with animals, especially my pet goats and dogs. Before CIC I was working as a speech therapist with adults with a learning disability. When we have some free time my favourite thing to do is to chill and have the craic with people. You’ll most often see me being goofy, laughing uncontrollably, sitting people watching or seeking the answers to my many questions!
