My name’s Maria and I’m a 1st-year Christ in the City missionary.

What brought me to Christ in the City

I just graduated from high school and knew I wanted to do mission work. I have good memories from volunteering as a family for Christ in the City when I was little. We started praying for a friend who was a first-year missionary last year and had an inspiring conversation with someone who had volunteered years ago. I thought I’d be traveling around the US serving and soon realized you don’t need to travel far to sacrifice and serve. I am happiest when I am serving.

What I am looking forward to

I am thrilled to have an opportunity to step out of myself and my comfort zone to help those around me who need it most. I am also excited for the community and the friendships that will be made throughout this year both in the house and on the streets. I am looking forward to growing deeper in my relationship with God and more in love with His teachings.

A bit about me

I grew up in a full house with three older brothers, where I learned I really liked being a woman. I enjoy hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing, or anything outdoors especially my Chacos. I love random pick-up games whether that’s soccer, ultimate frisbee, or basketball. John 10:10 is what I try to live, by living abundantly in God’s love and grace.
