My name’s Maria and I’m a 2nd-year Christ in the City missionary from Littelon, CO.

What brought me to Christ in the City

After graduating high school I knew I was being called to serve the Lord on a mission. My family started praying for a missionary at the time, so Christ in the City was on my mind and continued to come up through conversations with others. I thought I would be travelling around the world serving and soon realized I don’t need to travel far to sacrifice and serve.

How has Christ in the City helped you grow?
My capacity to love and be loved has expanded beyond measure. I have always known that I can love without holding back or love without reward, but coming to Christ in the City, where I am surrounded by 30 brothers and sisters who truly desire my good and want to love me intentionally, showed me how worthy I am of being loved and that people really do want to give me that time and space to simply receive it. I have been on this journey of being loved until it hurts.
A bit about me

I grew up in a full house with three older brothers, where I learned I really liked being a woman. I enjoy hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing, or anything outdoors, especially my Chacos. I love random pick-up games, whether that’s soccer, ultimate frisbee, or basketball. John 10:10 is what I try to live, by living abundantly in God’s love and grace. I am looking forward to doing my second year with Christ in the City on the East coast in a very unique and new place for me.
