My name’s LJ and I’m a 1st-year Christ in the City missionary from Mapandan, Pangasinan, Philippines and Virginia Beach, VA.

What brought me to Christ in the City

I knew that after undergrad I wanted to work in organized mission life before moving on to medical school and eventually the work force. I recognize the need for missionaries to serve people who experience both physical poverty and spiritual poverty. I want to thank my brother Tyler for introducing me to this ministry and of course Our Father for guiding me throughout the way.

How Christ in the City has helped me grow

I have always loved well and strongly; during my time at Christ in the City I have grown specifically in reverence. I have grown in patience and gentleness in getting to know my fellow missionaries and friends on the street. Though I have always loved deeply, I had been more of a loose cannon that just spurted out my own expression of love to others without much regard for their specific needs to be loved. All people simply experience, give, and receive love differently. Through Christ in the City, I have become more keen to recognize my brothers’ and sisters’ needs and desires to love them just as deeply and with more reverence.

A bit about me

I am definitely the most extroverted person you could ever meet. My patrons are Saint Joseph and Saint Jude. I will cook for you and I will ask you to play basketball.
