My name’s Lauren and I’m a 2nd-year Christ in the City missionary from Tampa, FL.
While in school, homelessness and housing insecurity was an issue I became very interested in. I came to CIC because I wanted to see for myself what it looked like to pursue authentic friendships with those experiencing homelessness. I later felt that God actually called me to CIC to mend my heart’s ability to respond to love.
Living in community has proven to be the catalyst for the personal transformation I’ve encountered during my time at Christ at the City. In few words, I am being taught how to live. I arrived at CIC with many questions regarding who I was, desperately seeking to find my place in the world. The real experience of a life lived in common challenged the individualism that had taken root in my heart and unveiled the true desires that felt so hidden in me. Those that have walked most closely with me over the past two years have been redeeming instruments of Christ’s own unconditional love and mercy. I will be leaving Christ in the City a truer version of myself, free to bear these fruits in the place I land next.
