My name’s Hannah and I’m a 1st-year Christ in the City missionary from Helena, MT.

What brought me to Christ in the City

I talked to a previous missionary about CIC and his experience. It so happened that everything he was talking about were desires that had been on my heart for quite some time. I decided to apply just to see what would happen, went to an interview weekend, and feel in love with the mission and people. The Lord very gently invited me to say “yes” to CIC after my time in Denver and I could not be more excited.

How Christ in the City has helped me grow

I have seen the most growth in my capacity to love. Before I came to Christ in the City, I thought that to “love the poor” meant acts of service. Through encountering my own poverty and that of my friends on the street, the way I love looks very different. First of all, I am learning how to truly love myself and be at peace with pain. Secondly, I love to be with my friends on the street in their suffering. I long to know them and to be with them, even though I cannot snap my fingers and meet all their needs. They have become very precious to me and a delight to my week. The Lord has shown me the joy of loving others with my care and presence. Since coming to Christ in the City, “love” now looks very different to me.

A bit about me

While I spent 4 years in North Dakota at the University of Mary, I am a Montana girl at heart. I have a great love for the outdoors, being in the mountains, music, and the uniqueness of each person. I recently graduated with a degree in Social Work and hope to use the degree to help others and bring out the goodness and beauty we all possess. I am a big people person and cannot wait to be a part of the CIC family.
